How are we dying?



Were you outraged by Emanual Ezekiel's suggestion that, and explanation why, one might want to die at 75?

If so, watch Peter Saul, an intensive care specialist, shed some light on how it is that we in the developed world actually tend to die.

I don't agree with everything he says (especially the claim that almost nobody dies suddenly!), but that doesn't matter. His main message is an important and under-recognized one. We are on a collision course with death, yet we act like we are immortal, and our ignorance is costing us dearly. I'm speaking not just of the financial costs of trying to extend any and all life until the very last untenable moment, but also of the costs that Emanual wrote about.
